Rather unexpectedly, I found myself in the middle of cottage country after I agreed to join my parents for a “visit to a friend’s cottage” yesterday. Despite being unaware of the destination until everyone got in the car, there are far worse things than getting out of the city & enjoying a perfect Sunday afternoon with your parents surrounded by nature.
After two hours on the road, we eventually pulled up to a beautiful cottage overlooking picturesque Stoney Lake, all the way out in Peterborough County. I loved taking in the fall colours & the trip was totally worth the drive – a big thank you to the Shiehs for being such gracious hosts & for inviting us into their private getaway for a day!

A few weeks ago I had the rare opportunity to take a break from work & enjoy an entire day in the Niagara area with my girlfriend Sarah. After some fun in the sun picking delicious cherries on the Moyer family’s amazing Cherry Avenue Farms, we made the most of the lovely scenery & warm afternoon light to create some spontaneous lifestyle portraits that I ended up really liking.
Only an hour’s drive away from the hustle & bustle of the big city, the Niagara Peninsula is definitely an under-appreciated relaxation destination & one of the many reasons I love Toronto life in the summer. Now if we could only do something about that pesky thing called winter…
